WE’RE BACK, MO’TOWN! We are excited to announce that we’ve confirmed an EPIC pairing event with one of Spain’s “NEED TO KNOW” producers, Abadía de Cova of Galicia, @ South + Pine!

LIMITED SEATING AVAILABLE! FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED!

Have you been missing our pairing dinners?!?! Have no fear. We are back in style, Morristown! Join us on Tuesday, April 28th at 7pm at South + Pine as welcome winemakers Adrián Rodríguez Moure and José Moure from Abadía da Cova along with De Maison Import’s very own Galicia expert, Noah Chichester, for a fantastic evening highlighting the very best coming out of Spain right now!

Sure, everyone knows Rioja. But the most exciting winemaking happening in Spain right now is in the country’s Northwest corner – GALICIA! And in the heart of this region lies the Ribeira Sacra. The “sacred riverbank” was once home to the greatest concentration of monasteries in medieval Europe, and ancient terraced vineyards still cling to steep slopes that plunge down to the Miño and Sil rivers. And by steep, we mean seriously steep—these canyons are anywhere from 50% gradient to nearly vertical 90º rock faces. (In comparison, San Francisco’s famously steep Filbert Street is about a 31% gradient.) The dizzying geography puts Ribeira Sacra squarely among the great vineyard landscapes of Europe, but it also forces growers to do everything in the vineyard, from planting to harvesting, by hand. That kind of work is hard to sustain, and it shows today: a steady flow of people are leaving the region and lifelong growers are throwing in the towel.

Many centuries-old terraced vineyards stand on the brink of vanishing for good. Enter Paloma, Adrián, and José. They’re the fourth generation of Abadía da Cova, a family winery on the banks of the Miño River, and they grew up among the vine-covered slopes where their family has been making wine for over a century. Today, they’re determined to do things differently to save the Ribeira Sacra — starting right at home in the tiny village of A Cova. The future, according to their bold new vision, lies in exploring the region’s full potential, creating a social movement to anchor people back to the land, and saving these vines from disappearing forever.

The wines are awesome, the menu is looking amazing and we cannot wait for this extraordinary event!
